Make a Difference When You Can: Individual Volunteer Roles
Individual volunteers are the heart of our mission, bringing hope to children in foster care. You can make a difference by:
- Sorting donations to ensure essential items reach children quickly.
- Assisting foster families at our mobile pop-up shop, helping them find the resources they need.
- Packing backpacks filled with love and support for children entering foster care.
- Leading group volunteers helping them make the biggest impact.
- Creating Birthday Dreams gift packages for a foster child’s birthday.
- Lending a hand in our warehouse, keeping our operations running smoothly.
Flexible volunteer opportunities are available Monday through Friday, 9-5, at our Phoenix Campus. Find your perfect fit and start making a difference today!
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER WITH THE FOSTER ALLIANCE?
- We require a minimum age of 14 to volunteer at The Foster Alliance (TFA) independently. Younger children need to have adult supervision.
- All reoccurring volunteers need to complete a background check. Felony convictions of any kind, or misdemeanors related to drugs, theft, or violence, preclude involvement in our volunteer program.
- At this time, TFA does not have court ordered community service opportunities available.

Volunteer at Home
Spread joy from anywhere! There are many ways to give back to the foster community without leaving the comfort of your home, office, or gathering. Whether you are making birthday cards and friendship bracelets, making a foster child’s birthday a dream, or holding a personal care drive and putting together kits with your friends, you will be making a tangible impact on the lives of children in your community.
Students
Volunteering for The Foster Alliance qualifies for school hours.
At TFA, our teen and young adult volunteers can make a big impact.
Students 14 and above can complete projects at home to earn volunteer hours, or join us on a reoccurring basis.
Drives
Your donation drive is the answer!
The Foster Alliance team of allies has worked to break down the barriers many foster families face when accessing essential resources. This work has more than tripled the number of foster children we serve. That achievement also comes with challenges. We cannot keep inventory on our shelves or in our mobile units. When you host a drive, you ensure a foster child in need never has to go without the simple things, like shoes and socks. Imagine the relief!
Group Volunteering
Unleash your team’s spirit!
Companies, church groups, clubs, families, and friends love to lend a hand to children in foster care at The Foster Alliance. You can volunteer as a team at our place or yours, team up on a collection drive, and so much more!
You might be creating birthday gift bags filled with presents, helping sort toys during the holidays, building bicycles, or packing backpacks filled with school supplies. No matter how you pitch in, you are going to have a great time while knowing you have made a difference in a foster child’s life.
Groups of 3-20 can volunteer daily, Monday through Friday, between 9 AM and 5 PM. Reach out to the TFA Development Team today to create a customized volunteering event perfect for your team.
